Cities’ Trillion Dollar Moment: Philanthropy’s Role in Helping Federal Dollars Land in Place

On Feb. 15, Kresge President & CEO Rip Rapson joined Joel Fleishman, director of the Center for Strategic Philanthropy and Civil Society at Duke University, for a conversation on the unprecedented federal funding opportunities available to cities through the American Rescue Plan Act, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act.

The discussion focuses on the role philanthropy can play in community change and in helping the investments land equitably in place. Rapson uses a series of drawings to detail the complex relationships between the current capital environment and federal, state and local governments, and six roles philanthropy can play in this process of financial distribution.
