Kresge.org redesign brings new features, functionality to our digital home

General Foundation News

Welcome to the new Kresge.org. Whether you’re a frequent visitor or here for the first time, I invite you to explore The Kresge Foundation’s refreshed website, which launched this week.

Throughout 2020, our External Affairs & Communications team partnered with our colleagues from across the foundation to reconceptualize our website. We also worked with digital design partner Visceral, a Certified B Corporation that partners exclusively with social sector clients, to launch the new site. The result: Improved navigation, several new landing pages, increased functionality, and concise program language that better orients current and prospective partners to our work.

We had two primary goals for the project: to migrate our site to a new content management system and to make our work – expanding opportunities in America’s cities – more accessible to you. To that end, new content and features have been introduced in this update that all visitors should find helpful including:

FAQs: The site now features three Frequently Asked Questions references: one covering general information about the foundation, one oriented to address inquiries from current grantees, and one that answers questions specific to our application process.

Grants Database: Our grants database dates to 2009 and includes several functional improvements including more expansive filters to make searching the database more efficient.

Social Investments Database: Similarly, data about our social investments can be found on a single landing page which includes a new feature to sort by investment type.

About Us: A new page that provides an overview of the foundation, our values and our mission.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: DEI is essential to Kresge’s work and culture and the topic deserved a dedicated space on our new website.

Our Story: A new page chronicling Kresge’s history including a timeline of milestone events in the foundation’s nearly 100-year existence and biographical information about our founder, Sebastian S. Kresge.

Our Work: A new landing page that provides an overview of our approach to working in cities, including in our three focus cities of Detroit, New Orleans and Memphis.

How to Apply: This page includes a detailed description of our funding process, essential links to our grants management portal, and funding strategies for each of our eight programs and practices.

News & Views:  We publish articles and stories each week that highlight funding opportunities and grants awarded, share what we’re learning, and offer our staff and partners’ perspectives.

Resources: This is where we house funding guidelines, reports, evaluations, case studies, publications and more.

Dedicated pages for each of our programs and practices continue to anchor our website. Individual landing pages provide detailed funding strategies, focus areas and initiatives for each programmatic area. In addition, all of Kresge’s cross-team funding initiatives can be found in one place on the new site.

A few important areas of the site saw minimal updates. The Current Funding Opportunities page is a popular location for prospective grantees to evaluate open funding opportunities. And our Subscribe and Connect page is still the best way to stay in touch. Here you may subscribe to our email newsletters and see a full directory of our presence on social media.

On behalf of the Kresge staff, I hope you find the new site easy to navigate and useful to the purpose of your visit. We welcome your feedback. Please share it with us by emailing us at [email protected] or watch for a survey later this month to provide further reactions to the new Kresge.org.
