Field Building

We work to support and strengthen leaders and organizations whose work is critical to addressing climate change while advancing racial and economic justice.

Achieving equitable climate action in U.S. cities requires a strong, well-resourced and well-networked movement of trusted nonprofit organizations and leaders who center climate justice. This belief has guided our field-building strategy.

Learn more about our three key strategies that support field building:

Through this focus area, we work to:

  • Support leaders, organizations and the network infrastructure that advance the climate justice movement.
  • Accelerate the efforts of public-sector leaders whose work is critical to advancing an equitable climate action agenda.
  • Strengthen community-focused co-developers of climate-beneficial projects – and the financing intermediaries and technical assistance providers working with them – to ensure communities of color and low-wealth communities have equitable access to public and private capital to deploy renewable energy and address climate challenges.

To achieve these outcomes, we deploy a blend of grants and social investments to advance climate justice, support public leaders and ensure equitable access to public and private capital.
