Executive Director
EdSystems Center at Northern Illinois University
Kyle Westbrook is an experienced education, non-profit, and policy executive with close to 30 years of experience serving students and communities in Chicago and Illinois. His experiences have cut across K-12, higher education, and city government.
Kyle is the Executive Director of EdSystems Center at Northern Illinois University, a policy development and program implementation center focused on collaborating with communities, state agencies, local school districts, and postsecondary institutions to ensure that students have clear and unambiguous paths to college and career opportunities.
Previously, Kyle served as the Founding Executive Director of the Partnership for College Completion. Before being named founding executive director of PCC he served as the Executive Director of Education Policy in the Office of Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Kyle has extensive experience in public education having served as a teacher, teacher leader, leadership consultant, and district level administrator in the Chicago Public Schools. He has also held posts at the University of Chicago Urban Education Institute.
In addition, he has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in history and the history of education at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and the University of Illinois Chicago, and National Louis University. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability, and the Chicago Regional Advisory Board of Bottom Line.
Kyle holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Education Policy from the University of Illinois Chicago and Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
