Arts & Culture
Museums, theaters and other cultural institutions face growing criticism from the communities they aim to serve and calls to be more active, visible players in community life. To advance justice, they must learn to align mission and operations to meet community needs. In a recent Nonprofit Quarterly article, Dr. Kim Zeuli of the Feeding Cities Group and Kresge’s Maria Rosario Jackson and Seth Beattie call on arts and cultural organizations to prioritize community justice, both by learning from the equity practices of others in the sector and by actively collaborating with – and financially compensating – these experts and catalysts.
