In a rapidly evolving world, are young men struggling to catch up, or refusing the direction it’s heading?

Education

A new report from Public Agenda surveys more than 3,500 Americans to understand how young men ages 18 to 34 view masculinity, higher education, civic life and their place in a rapidly changing world. The findings reveal a generation navigating real friction: seven in ten still see being the sole provider as a marker of success, four in ten feel isolated and irrelevant, and half doubt that government works for ordinary people. The report introduces a new framework for understanding how young men navigate manhood, education, connection and democracy — revealing a diverse group responding to competing pressures with both alienation and aspiration as many still hold hope in their ability to shape change. Explore the full findings to better understand a generation too often talked about but rarely heard.
