Placemaking and community planning may play out more powerfully in Detroit than anywhere else in the country, combining to take important roles in right-sizing existing networks for a smaller population and building citizen buy-in to Detroit’s future form and function by offering meaningful venues for engagement, strengthening bonds of social capital and creating new opportunities to connect to the city’s dynamics of growth.
