Former Senior Vice President, The Capital Group
Paula B. Pretlow is actively engaged in corporate and philanthropy board service since retiring from The Capital Group Companies as a senior vice president in 2011. At The Capital Group, one of the world’s largest investment management firms, she led the business development and client relationship group responsible for U.S. public pension plans. She joined The Kresge Foundation’s Board of Trustees in 2015.
Prior to joining The Capital Group in 1999, Pretlow worked with Barclays Global Investors (now BlackRock), Montgomery Asset Management and Chancellor LGT Asset Management. Her investment industry experience also includes fixed-income sales with Credit Suisse and time as a portfolio engineer with AXA/Rosenberg. She spent her entire career in finance, beginning as a corporate banking officer at Wells Fargo Bank.
Pretlow earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Northwestern University and a Master of Business Administration in finance and economics from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. She is a 2017 fellow of Stanford University’s Distinguished Careers Institute.
She serves as the board chair of The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, where she has been a trustee since 2018. Paula is on the board of trustees of Northwestern University and is also a board member of Bitwise Industries, Vroom, CION/Ares Diversified Credit Fund and Williams-Sonoma, Inc. where she is a member of the company’s Audit and Finance Committee.
