Gena Lewis

Gena Lewis (she/her/hers) is a senior fellow with The Kresge Foundation’s Human Services Program.

Prior to joining Kresge, Gena was a government affairs executive consultant, With over 20 years of experience in the human services sector, Gena also previously served as general counsel and deputy commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Human Services. In those roles, she was responsible for providing executive leadership and agency-wide direction in alignment with the mission and goals of the department and the priorities of the state.

Gena earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor from Wayne State University School of Law. She is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR-HRCI) and with the International Public Management Association (IPMA-SCP). She currently holds memberships with the Tennessee Bar Association and the American Association of Human Services Attorneys.
