Emily Bertsche

Emily Bertsche is a managing director at The Kresge Foundation. Emily is focused on the private portfolio, which includes investments in venture capital, buyout, real estate and natural resources. She joined the foundation in 2024 as an investment director working on the public market portfolio. 

Previously, Emily served as the director of growth assets for the UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust. In this role, she oversaw the private and public equity portfolio for the nation’s largest non-governmental purchaser of healthcare benefits.  

Born and raised in Chicago, Emily earned a bachelor’s degree in the science of foreign service from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
