The Kresge Foundation is pleased to welcome Tatiana Hernandez as senior program officer with the foundation’s Arts & Culture Program.

Hernandez was most recently the Arts Director at the Hemera Foundation in Boulder, Colorado where she developed a program exploring the intersection of creativity and reflective practices.

Previously, as program officer for the arts for the Knight Foundation, she led the Knight Arts Challenge, Knight’s open contest for discovering the best arts ideas in communities across the country.

Nationally, Hernandez serves on the boards of Grantmakers in the Arts and the Gard Foundation, as well as Machine Project and BFI (Bas Fisher Invitational). She is a 2014 Marshall Memorial Fellow, a program of the German Marshall Fund.

Hernandez joins a Kresge team dedicated to helping community organizations bring Creative Placemaking – the intentional infusion of arts, culture and community-engaged design into planning and development decisions – into underserved low-income neighborhoods in U.S. cities.

Prior to working in arts philanthropy, Tatiana worked on college access programs with youth in South Los Angeles. She has written and spoken on the importance of new organizational models, equity in grantmaking and innovation in the arts. Tatiana earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in international affairs and anthropology from The George Washington University.
