Now involved in a variety of civic activities centered around non-profit boards and volunteer work, Pretlow was a senior vice president at Capital, one of the world’s largest investment management firms. Paula Pretlow Photo: Douglas Schaible At the time of her retirement in 2011, she was responsible for business development and client relationships for public pension plans. “We are very pleased to have Paula join the board,” says Kresge Foundation Chairwoman Elaine D. Rosen. “She shares the organization’s commitment to expanding opportunities for people who are disadvantaged or underserved. She brings experience that will help the foundation as a whole.” A California resident, Pretlow serves on the San Francisco Symphony Board of Governors, Northwestern University Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences Board of Visitors, and recently completed service on the Board of Trustees of Pitzer College in Claremont, Calif. She is also a board member of Congregation EmanuEl in San Francisco. She is a volunteer for Achieve Foundation, SEO Scholars and Larkin Street Youth Services, all youth-serving organizations in San Francisco. Pretlow was with The Capital Group from 1999 to 2011. Before that, she was with Montgomery Asset Management and Barclays Global Investors – now BlackRock. Her finance and investment industry experience includes tenures with Credit Suisse, AXA/Rosenberg and Wells Fargo Bank. Pretlow has a bachelor of arts in political science from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., and an MBA in finance and economics from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
