More than 300 hospitals and health centers across the country have developed medical-legal partnerships, in which lawyers work with health-care teams to address social determinants of health, in order to treat structural problems at the root of an issue rather than just treat symptoms. This collection of five articles from the National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership highlights five medical-legal partnership programs that used the screening and treatment of patients to detect systemic issues affecting their communities, and form strategies to create policy change.
