In partnership with Kresge, Live6 is offering awards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 to help strengthen established neighborhood associations that are actively organizing, building leadership and advancing community-driven priorities. Eligible organizations must be nonprofit, resident-led associations that have been operating for at least two years, are registered with the City of Detroit’s Department of Neighborhoods as a Neighborhood Association, maintain an annual operating budget under $100,000 and operate within Live6’s service boundaries (8 Mile to the north, Lodge to the south, Hamilton to the east, and Wyoming to the west). Block clubs, large institutions, and for-profit businesses are not eligible. Applications are due Friday, March 6, 2026, and the process is designed to be simple — with the application taking no more than ten minutes to complete. Funding will be distributed in two installments (April and October 2026), with priority given to active associations whose primary focus is secular community support and demonstrate a clear commitment to inclusive, community-centered service, collaboration and action. In September 2025, Kresge announced that it would be moving its headquarters from Troy, Michigan, to the Marygrove Conservancy Campus in Northwest Detroit as part of a $180 million investment in the Fitzgerald, Bagley, University District, and Martin Park neighborhoods. This grant program marks an important step in deepening local investment and expanding opportunities for grassroots groups to lead impactful work in their neighborhoods.
