This grant will support the California Environmental Justice Alliance, a project of the Environmental Health Coalition that seeks to advance an equitable transition of California’s electricity supply to renewable energy. The Alliance will educate environmental justice communities and policymakers about opportunities to advance racial and economic equity in decarbonizing buildings, developing resilience centers, and installing solar power on multifamily affordable housing. This grant will enable Right to the City to participate in a learning community of 29 Advancing Health Equity through Housing (HEH) grantee partners. Through their previous HEH grant, the organization has worked to further develop their multi-sector collaborations and incorporate equity- and justice-based organizing frameworks into their work. This general operating grant supports Eastside Arts Alliance to expand the use of art and cultural strategy in its community development initiatives and continue its partnership with the City of Oakland’s Planning Department to shape where and how much affordable housing will get built and to address environmental justice and land use issues as part of the City's General Plan.
