College for All Texans Foundation is the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s non‐profit support organization. This two-year grant will support Phase II of the Texas Affordable Baccalaureate (TAB) program. Developed in partnership with employers and higher education institutions, TAB is designed to use competency-based education methods to reduce both the cost and time required to complete a high-quality bachelor’s degree. Competency-based educational methods move away from seat time and replace it with a more flexible structure allowing students to progress as they demonstrate academic mastery of specific topics, whatever the time, place or pace of learning. The nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief organization uses a vast network of 202 food banks and 60,000 local charitable agencies to collect and distribute food to 40 million people each year. This grant will enable Feeding America to conduct a landscape study to document and disseminate promising approaches from local communities addressing college hunger. The study will inform the development of new strategic partnerships and interventions. To maximize the research’s influence, the grant will also support Feeding America to build partnerships with leading higher education organizations and to host at least three convenings on college food insecurity.
