Early Childhood Funders Collaborative

This grant will support Kresge’s membership in the Early Childhood Funders Collaborative (ECFC), a national coalition of foundations that are committed to supporting the healthy development and learning of children prenatal to eight with a specific focus on low-income children living in conditions of risk, in the context of their families and communities. Since 1992, ECFC has helped to align and mobilize funders with a demonstrated investment priority in early childhood development and learning. ECFC membership will enable the Detroit Team to maximize opportunities for collaboration with a leading network of foundations engaged in early childhood policy and practice and this grant is part of the broader Hope Starts Here suite of investments to engage in national field advancement efforts that will strengthen the early childhood systems building work in Detroit.

IFF

This grant supports the implementation of the Hope Starts Here (HSH) framework through project support to IFF to resource a bridge organization providing project management and strategic design to onboard a long-term implementation office. Hope Starts Here is a result of an extensive community planning process, co-chaired by the Kresge and W.K. Kellogg Foundations, that engaged a broad range of stakeholders to develop a comprehensive framework to support early childhood priorities in Detroit. IFF has provided project administration support throughout the planning phase of the HSH process, and will subcontract with FSG, a national consulting firm with extensive social sector expertise, to provide implementation capacity during the search and onboarding of an implementation office that will be responsible for the implementation of the framework’s priorities in the long-term. This grant will support the HighScope Educational Research Foundation (HighScope) to develop and implement the 47th Annual HighScope International Conference. Harlem Children’s Zone

This grant provides project support to the Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) to provide technical assistance to advance strategic planning for the Marygrove P-20 Partnership. HCZ is a national leader in place-based education through their child and family-centered neighborhood approach in central Harlem that connects cradle-to-career education with neighborhood-based wraparound supports.
