The Wisconsin HOPE Lab is the nation’s first laboratory for research aimed at improving equitable outcomes in postsecondary education. This cross-team grant with Kresge’s Education and Human Services programs enables the Lab to collect student-level survey data from a large, national survey of 50-75 community colleges on food and housing insecurity and to widely disseminate the results. This project builds on the Lab’s Hungry to Learn report highlighting findings from a 2015 survey of 10 U.S. community colleges and representing a significant advance in knowledge of material hardship among undergraduates.
