We are a private, national foundation that works to expand opportunities in America’s cities through grantmaking and social investing in arts and culture, education, environment, health, human services and community development in Detroit.
This project grant supports the Richmond Equitable Development Fellowship program in building the capacity of residents to develop equitable development policies through Creative Placemaking strategies. Successful projects implemented during the first-year fellowship allowed Haas Institute to build a robust community partnership. The second-year fellowship will continue Haas’ effort to further embed Creative Placemaking approaches within Richmond’s community organizing, urban planning and economic development sectors. This grant advances the Arts & Culture Team’s Local Systems focus area, which invests in initiatives that challenge norms and ways of working within citywide systems and support more adaptive practitioners.
