We are a private, national foundation that works to expand opportunities in America’s cities through grantmaking and social investing in arts and culture, education, environment, health, human services and community development in Detroit.
UNITE-LA builds programs and partnerships that make it possible for Los Angeles youth to have access to high-quality education and job training from pre-k to postsecondary. This three-year grant will build UNITE-LA’s capacity to convene and collaborate with city and regional organizations to create an aligned urban higher education ecosystem (UHEE) in LA. UNITE-LA will convene Student Success Workshop, a subgroup of L.A. Compact signatories from local higher education institutions, K-12 education, government, and business committed to advancing student postsecondary success. The initial Workshop participants, representing 11 campuses, have agreed to pilot new transfer policies and to support implementation of the L.A. College Promise. UNITE-LA will also partner with multiple actors to integrate financial aid planning resources across the city.
