From 2006 to 2010 the South African Institute for Advancement, known as Inyathelo, managed the original $10.5 million Kresge Special Initiative in South Africa, which focused on building private advancement capacity at five large teaching institutions. This two-year, $567,000 grant provides funding for a short-course certificate in advancement and resource management, which Inyathelo and the Rhodes University Business School have developed as an interim step toward the delivery of an accredited, two-year postgraduate diploma in advancement.
