This grant will enable Physicians for Social Responsibility – Los Angeles (PSR-LA) and its partners to create a community-driven, city-based strategy to establish a new Climate Emergency Mobilization Department (CEMD) in response to the climate crisis and local toxic exposure in Los Angeles. PSR-LA is one of 15 organizations selected as part of Kresge’s Climate Change, Health and Equity (CCHE) initiative. The 5,000-member physician and health-advocate organization informs the medical community and policymakers, promotes safer practices and elevates the role of community-based organizations as part of its efforts to protect public health from nuclear threats and environmental toxins.
