The teaching and research university has established the Center for Regional Food Systems, which leverages applied research, education and outreach to advance understanding of and engagement with regional food systems. A three-year grant for the Michigan Food Hub Learning and Innovation Network, led by the center, assists Michigan food hubs in improving their efficiency, profitability and capability to supply fresh, affordable, locally grown food to low-income communities in the state.
