The nonprofit ioby derives its name from "in our backyards" or the positive opposite of NIMBY, the acronym for “not in my backyard.”  ioby works in a number of cities to connect neighborhoods with various forms of resources – including cash, social networks, in-kind donations, volunteer time and advocacy – for a cause or project. This grant supports bringing ioby to Detroit to support residents in transforming public spaces in their neighborhoods and to build the capacity among neighborhood leaders to connect and access resources.
