Since 1982, the free clinic has provided life-giving services to meet the health and social needs of low-income, uninsured residents of Washtenaw and Western Wayne counties and surrounding areas. The clinic is able to accommodate the growing demand for its services by needy populations with additional operating support provided by this two-year grant from the Health Clinic Opportunity Fund. The fund is designed to bridge, build, and sustain the operations of high-performing community health centers serving diverse and vulnerable populations. It targeted free clinics, public health clinics, and designated federally qualified health center look-alikes to meet both the immediate and long-term health needs of their constituents. Priority was given to projects that leverage existing resources, create more effective operating systems, improve efficiencies, and expand and maintain access to health services for vulnerable populations.
