2019

This grant for project support advances the Healthy Schools Campaign’s (HSC) Space to Grow initiative, a public-private partnership designed to bring green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) to schoolyards in low-income communities in Chicago. Space to Grow is a response to the impacts of climate change, structural racism and disinvestment neighborhoods, schools and students. HSC’s efforts will assist communities to better adapt to repeated flooding, provide a new source of green jobs, and effectively build community cohesion and resilience by engaging teachers, students, parents and other community members in the development and educational use of the new schoolyards.
