We are a private, national foundation that works to expand opportunities in America’s cities through grantmaking and social investing in arts and culture, education, environment, health, human services and community development in Detroit.
Since 2014, Green Diversity Initiative (GDI) has advocated for data transparency, accountability and resources to fundamentally alter the sector-level diversity status quo. This two-year grant provides general operating support for GDI to increase racial diversity across mainstream environmental non-governmental organizations (NGOs), foundations, and government agencies. Support will further allow GDI to embark on the next phase of its work (Green 2.0) to evolve its role in truth telling and accountability concerning DEI while reducing its consultancy role. GDI will finalize and implement its three-year strategic plan, focusing on four tactical strategies to hold organizations better accountable for increasing racial diversity among staff.
