Expanding opportunities in America’s cities

Forgotten Harvest

Oak Park, Michigan

Metropolitan Detroit’s food-rescue organization works to relieve hunger in the Detroit metropolitan community by collecting surplus, prepared and perishable food from groceries, restaurants, dairies, wholesalers and other Health Department-approved sources and delivering it to emergency food providers. This grant supports comprehensive infrastructure and program expansion needed to double food distribution to 36 million pounds in 2013 from 19 million pounds in 2010.
