El Paso Community Foundation

El Paso, Texas
$5,000

Awarded

Awarded:
2019

This grant provides project support to the El Paso Community Foundation (EPCF)'s El Paso Shooting Victims Fund. In the aftermath of the shooting in El Paso on August 3, 2019, in which 22 people died, EPCF set up the El Paso Shooting Victims Fund, which provides financial and logistical support to families of those killed in the shooting, and the individuals and families of those injured. The Fund - a response to a tragedy at a scale previously unseen by the El Paso community - is also a response to the anti-immigrant sentiment that allegedly caused the shooting, demonstrating local and national commitment to support the victims and to uplift stories of immigrants and people of color that make up the majority of the victims.
