The department designs and delivers community health services and programs and serves as the lead agency for the Food to Families initiative, which is aimed at reducing the risk of obesity, improving access to healthy foods and fostering community activities that support the health of African American and Latino pregnant women. Funding supports development and advancement of Food to Families as part of the Safety Net Enhancement Initiative, a cohort of eight communities around the country addressing health disparities through multisector collaboration.
