Transforming Urban Systems

Climate change requires that U.S. cities change how they manage the energy, health and water systems that are critical to their residents health, safety and quality of life.

We work with cities to accelerate climate solutions that benefit all residents by transforming the energy, health and water systems they depend on.

How We Work

We deploy a blend of grants and social investments to achieve these outcomes to advance desired outcomes for energy, health and water systems.

We work to:

  • Facilitate an urban energy transition that eliminates carbon emissions while building power for low-wealth communities and communities of color and propelling racial and economic equity.
  • Mobilize equitable climate action by community-based advocates, healthcare institutions and public health practitioners in ways that benefit low-wealth communities and communities of color, reducing climate-related health risks.
  • Advance equitable, climate-resilient approaches to urban stormwater and wastewater management grounded in the needs, priorities, and knowledge of low-wealth communities and communities of color.
