Steven K. Hamp, a principal with Hamp Advisors, served as vice president and chief of staff at Ford Motor Co. after a 27-year career at The Henry Ford, where he served as president from 1996 to 2005.
He is chairman of the Michigan Educational Excellence Foundation and chairman of the governing council for the New Economy Initiative. Hamp was founding chairman of the Cultural Alliance for Southeast Michigan and the Henry Ford Learning Institute. He also serves as co-chair of the Purple Rose Theatre Company in Chelsea, Mich.
In 2000, Hamp became the first recipient of the Michigan Environmental Council’s Helen and William Milliken Distinguished Service Award. In 1999, The Detroit News named him Michiganian of the Year.
Hamp earned a bachelor’s degree from Butler University, a master’s degree from Indiana University and he has an honorary degree from the University of Michigan. He joined The Kresge Foundation’s Board of Trustees in 2002.
