Sherry Appleton joined The Kresge Foundation in 2014 as staff accountant. She is responsible for maintaining the foundation’s general ledger accounts, conducting account reconciliations, reviewing expense reports, and processing accounts payable and grant payments.
She previously was an office manager at a nonprofit where she also had human resources responsibilities. She also has experience in the automotive industry as a financial analysis and has worked in the private-sector in the field of education.
Sherry is a graduate of Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Mich., where she earned a bachelor’s degree in human resource development with a minor in labor relations and lean manufacturing. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in accountancy from Walsh College in Troy, Mich., and will pursue the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certifications.
She is also a green belt in the Lean Six-Sigma process-efficiency system from Villanova University and has been a member of the Society of Human Resource Management and Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.
