Health Impact Assessments are an important tool for understanding the health implications of proposed policies, plans or projects on communities. Health Impact Assessments can be used to advance equity in decision-making processes. As the field becomes more commonly known, there is a risk that the focus on equity will diminish without explicit attention, care, and guidance regarding its role in Health Impact Assessment (or HIA) practice.
