The council creates and leverages broad-based education and community partnerships to improve public education, raise academic-achievement levels and increase access to higher education for low-income students. This two-year grant enables NCCEP to develop an advocacy strategy to generate continued support for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs, or GEAR UP, a backbone federal college-access initiative serving 500,000 students in 43 states and four territories.
