Sharon Zimmerman joined The Kresge Foundation in 2005 and is assistant to the president and director of the Executive Office.

She provides multifaceted support to Kresge’s president and to other members of the Executive Office and supports the Board of Trustees in a variety of functions, including new-member orientation, relationship management and coordination of board activities. Sharon also serves as assistant board secretary.

She is a member of the foundation’s committees for records management and for membership and infrastructure grantmaking, and directs the coordination of Kresge’s art purchase and exhibition program.

Sharon was previously executive assistant to the director of Cranbrook Schools in Bloomfield Township, Mich., one of the largest private schools in the U.S. She also served as executive assistant to the director of the Cranbrook Academy of Art, director and curator of the Janice Charach Gallery at the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit and director of the Detroit Artists Market, a nonprofit gallery.

Sharon holds a bachelor’s degree in art history from Wayne State University and is active in the Detroit-area arts scene.
