Mark Whitney is content editor at The Kresge Foundation, where he supports print and website projects. He joined the foundation in 2012.
Previously, he served as an editor at The Ann Arbor News for more than 20 years, where he edited articles and oversaw production of sections dedicated to local and national news, arts and culture, business and economics, environment and outdoor sports. He also worked as a reporter at The Evening News in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., and as a copy editor at Crain's Detroit Business in Detroit.
He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan, concentrating on journalism, history and environmental studies. He also studied Web coding and design at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Mich., after his journalism career.
He is a life member and trustee of the Michigan Karst Conservancy and a member of the National Speleological Society.
