Governors State University, formerly an upper-division college serving juniors and seniors, was founded with a mission to serve low-income students and has pioneered a successful Dual Degree Program, a partnership between GSU and Chicago metropolitan area community colleges that provides full-time students with a pathway to earn quality, accessible and affordable associate and bachelor's degrees. This three-year grant will fund the expansion and dissemination of GSU’s Dual Degree Program-Male Success Initiative, which seeks to increase the success rate for men of color from local high schools and community colleges. In this second phase, GSU will expand targeted outreach to men of color at all 17 partner community colleges and develop new partnerships at four feeder high schools
