Detroit
The new national center, formed by the Genesee Institute and the National Vacant Properties Campaign, promotes policy, research, and technical assistance to help communities reduce blight from vacant, abandoned, and underutilized properties. This grant supports the center’s startup operations and enables Detroit’s community-development leaders to attend the national Reclaiming Vacant Properties conference.
City Connect Detroit promotes and facilitates cross-sector collaboration among nonprofits, residents, and the public sector to address important community problems and concerns. It has helped to incubate Data Driven Detroit, an independent data collection, storage, and analysis center created in 2008 to deliver reliable, meaningful data about changing neighborhood conditions to Detroit-area agencies and to inform their policymaking decisions. This grant provides one year of support for D3’s activities.

This three-year grant provides implementation support and funding for our 36 Artist Fellowships and two Eminent Artist Awards.
